Types of Scissor Lifts We Provide

MDS offers an extensive line of scissor lifts, designed for every use case and industry:

Electric (Indoor) Scissor Lifts

Scissor lifts that run on batteries are great for indoor work. They don't make noise or give off smells, so they're perfect for schools, offices, retail stores, warehouses, and other closed environments. A lot of versions are tiny enough to fit through regular doorways and restricted aisles. The smooth tires won’t damage flooring, and a full charge gives a whole day’s worth of lifting force. Many models also have non-marking tires and tight turning radiuses, making them easy to maneuver in crowded spaces.

Outdoor and Rough-Terrain Scissor Lifts

For outdoor jobs or uneven ground, we have rugged scissor lifts built for the challenge. These lifts have bigger tires, four-wheel drive, and strong diesel or propane engines to handle mud, gravel, and slopes. They can reach great heights (40 to 50 feet or more) and carry heavier loads than indoor models. We offer a range of outdoor lifts, from slimmer 26-foot models for moderate terrain to large 4WD lifts for full construction sites. Each comes with safety features like tilt sensors and extra stability to keep your crew safe on uneven ground.

Choosing The Right Scissor Lift

It’s important to match the lift to your project. Ask yourself:

Height: How high do you need to go? Choose a lift with enough platform height, plus a safety margin. We have lifts from about 20 up to 50 feet working height.

Work environment: Will you be indoors on a smooth floor or outside on rough ground? Indoor floors call for an electric “slab” lift. Outdoor or rough terrain jobs need a 4WD model.

Access: Measure doorways, gates, and aisles. We have narrow lifts that squeeze through tight spaces if needed.

Weight capacity: What will you lift? Most scissor lifts can accommodate two to three persons and tools that weigh several hundred pounds. Check that the platform can hold your team and their equipment.

Obstructions: Check for low ceilings, pipes, or beams above your work area to see whether they are in the way. You’ll need several feet of clearance above the platform at full height.

If you’re not sure about any of the above, just ask us. We can suggest the best machine or even bring two possibilities to your location so you can compare them.

Safety And Support

Our first priority is safety. All of our lifts have full guardrails, emergency stops, and sirens that go off when they tilt. Before a lift leaves, we check it for leaks, brakes, and controls. Don’t worry if you’ve never used a scissor lift before. It’s easy to use them. We’ll show you how to use the controls and go over some basic safety checks. You’ll get a guidebook for how to use it and a quick list of best practices. You may work at a height with confidence if you follow our advice and keep your machine in good shape.

FAQ's

  • 1. What do you use a scissor lift for?

A scissor lift is a safe way to hoist workers and tools straight up for jobs like painting, electrical work, repairs, installs, and keeping a warehouse clean. It's great for jobs that need stable vertical access, whether they're inside or outside.

  • 2. What are the differences between a diesel and an electric scissor lift?

Electric lifts are quiet and clean, so they work best on smooth floors indoors. Diesel (or rough-terrain) lifts are noisy and made to work outside on uneven ground. We'll help you choose the best one for your project.

  • 3. How high can a scissor lift go?

Depending on the type, our lifts can go anywhere from 15 feet to more than 50 feet. The height you need depends on what you do. Give us the details of your project, and we'll choose the best lift for you.

  • 4. Can I use a scissor lift outside?

Yes, but just some kinds. If you want to use it outside, you'll need a rough-terrain scissor lift with big tires and a better suspension. Never use an electric lift indoors on ground that is uneven or soft.

  • 5. How can I tell if a scissor lift will fit through my entrance or work area?

Please tell us how wide your door is and how high your ceiling is. Our little elevators can fit through regular doorways and narrow passageways. We'll make sure you obtain one that fits in your space.
